Hinglish Notes Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 October 2026

In short
  • Hinglish Notes has no accounts, and we do not sell your data.
  • Your notes are stored only on your phone, in an encrypted database. We cannot see them.
  • The app uses your microphone only when you choose to record a voice note, and your fingerprint or PIN only to unlock the app or the Vault, both handled by your phone, not by us.
  • The app does not use your camera, contacts or location.
  • The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which may collect certain data as described below.

Who we are

Hinglish Notes: Voice Notes (“the app”) is an Android app that turns spoken Hindi, English, Hinglish, Marathi, Gujarati or Bengali into text notes, published by Sunny Enterprise (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

Information stored on your device

Your notes, checklists and any reminders you set are saved on your phone only, inside a database encrypted with AES-256. The encryption key is generated on your phone when you first open the app and is kept in Android’s own secure, hardware-backed storage (the Android Keystore). It never leaves your phone, and we never receive a copy of your notes or your key.

You can delete any note at any time inside the app, or remove everything at once by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it.

Microphone and voice typing

The app only accesses your microphone when you tap the record button. What happens to that audio depends on which transcription option you have chosen in Settings:

Your speech is processed by your phone’s own speech-recognition service, which on most Android phones is provided by Google. Depending on your phone and its settings, this may be processed on the device or sent to Google’s servers for recognition. This is part of Android itself, not something our app controls, and is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy, not this one. We do not receive or store a copy of your audio, and nothing is ever recorded to a file — only the text it produces is kept, as your note. The microphone is only active while the recording screen is open.

App lock, Vault and biometrics

If you turn on App lock or move a note into the Vault, the app asks Android to confirm your identity using your phone’s own fingerprint, face unlock or screen PIN. This check is performed entirely by your phone’s operating system. Your biometric data is never collected, seen or stored by the app, and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Reminders and notifications

If you set a reminder on a note, it is scheduled locally on your phone using Android’s own notification system. Nothing about your reminder or its content is sent anywhere. A reminder on a locked note shows only “Locked note” in the notification, never the note’s title or text.

Encrypted backup

If you choose to export a backup, the app creates a single file containing your notes, encrypted with a passphrase that only you choose and that we never see or store. You decide where that file goes, for example by saving it to Google Drive, emailing it to yourself, or keeping it in a file manager, using Android’s own share feature. We do not receive a copy. If you forget your passphrase, nobody, including us, can open the backup.

Permissions

The app asks for the microphone (to record a voice note), notifications and exact alarms (to deliver a reminder you set), and biometric access (to unlock App lock or the Vault using your phone’s own fingerprint or PIN check). It uses internet access to show ads and to process Google Play purchases. It does not ask for your camera, contacts, photos, files or location.

Advertising

The free version of Hinglish Notes is supported by ads provided by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). The app shows banner and occasional full-screen ads, never while you are recording or writing a note. AdMob may collect and use data such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Google uses this to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. This data is handled by Google under its own policies:

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before ads are requested, using Google’s consent message. You can change your choice at any time in the app under Settings > Ad privacy settings.

You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation in your Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads).

Purchases

The app offers an optional, one-time “Remove ads” purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We receive only confirmation that the purchase was made, so that the app can turn ads off on your phone. We never see your card or payment details.

What we do not do

  • We do not ask you to create an account.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not collect your name, email or phone number.
  • We do not store your notes, audio or biometric data on any server we run.
  • We do not track your notes or usage across devices.

Services that process data for the app

  • Google (AdMob advertising, Google Play, and your phone’s built-in speech recognition)

These providers have their own privacy policies, which apply to the data they handle. Your notes themselves are never sent to any of them.

Data retention and deletion

Your notes, backups you have not shared elsewhere, and reminders stay on your phone until you delete them, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. We do not hold a copy of any of it. Data handled by Google for advertising is kept under its own policies.

Your choices and rights

You can delete any note, your encrypted backups, and your reminders at any time inside the app, and you can control ads personalisation in your Android settings. Because we do not hold an account or a copy of your notes, there is usually nothing further for us to delete on your behalf, but you can contact us about any privacy question or request.

Depending on where you live (for example India, the EU or the UK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us.

Security

Your notes are stored in an encrypted database on your phone, with the encryption key kept in Android’s hardware-backed secure storage. Ads are loaded over encrypted connections where the provider supports them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version on this page.
