Hola Privacy Policy

Effective date: 24 October 2026

In short
  • Hola has no accounts, and we do not sell your data.
  • Lessons work offline. Your progress, streak and bookmarks stay on your device.
  • We do not store your voice and we do not use AI in the app.
  • The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, which may collect certain data as described below.

Who we are

Hola: Learn Spanish Offline (“the app”) is an Android app for learning Spanish, published by Sunny Enterprise (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

Data that stays on your device

To let you continue where you stopped, the app saves the following on your phone only: lessons passed and stars, practice history and review schedule, daily streak, XP and goal, bookmarked words, your settings, and whether you removed ads. We never receive this information. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app deletes it.

Speaking practice (microphone)

Microphone permission is optional and is used only when you tap a speaking button. Speech is turned into text by the speech recognition service built into your Android phone, which is provided by Google. Depending on your phone’s settings and installed language packs, this service may send your audio to Google’s servers to be processed. We do not receive or store your audio. Google’s own policies apply to that processing.

Pronunciation audio

Spanish words and sentences are read aloud using your phone’s built-in text-to-speech engine. The text is not sent to our servers.

Advertising

The free version of Hola is supported by ads provided by Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK): banner, interstitial, app-open, native and optional rewarded ads. AdMob may collect and use data such as your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Google uses this to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. This data is handled by Google under its own policies:

Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the app asks for your consent before ads are requested, using Google’s consent message. You can change your choice at any time in the app under Me > Privacy options. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation in your Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads).

Purchases

If you buy the optional “Remove ads” unlock, payment is handled by Google Play. We receive only confirmation that the purchase was made. We never see your card or payment details.

Permissions the app uses

  • Internet and network state: only for ads, the consent message and purchases. Lessons work without a connection.
  • Microphone (optional): only for speaking practice.
  • Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob to show ads.

What we do not do

  • We do not ask you to create an account.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not store your voice recordings.
  • We do not keep a copy of your progress on our servers.

Services that process data for the app

  • Google (Android speech recognition and text-to-speech, AdMob, Google Play)

Google has its own privacy policy, which applies to the data it handles.

Data retention and deletion

Your progress stays on your phone until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app. Information handled by Google is kept under Google’s policies.

Your choices and rights

You can deny or withdraw microphone permission in your phone’s settings (speaking practice will then not work). Because we do not hold an account or a copy of your data, there is usually nothing further for us to delete, but you can contact us about any privacy question or request.

Depending on where you live (for example India, the EU or the UK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version on this page.
